We’ll show you everything you need to know to begin your backpacking journey with confidence.
This beginner-friendly workshop is designed for people with little to no backpacking experience (typically 15 trips or fewer). In a hands-on, structured environment, you’ll learn the essential skills needed to safely and confidently explore the outdoors.
Followed by a guided overnight backpacking experience at Crowders Mountain State Park designed for those ready to take the next step beyond the basics. Just 50 minutes from Charlotte, this trip includes a manageable 1.5-mile hike to the campsite, giving you the opportunity to test your gear, refine your pack weight, and practice essential skills in a real trail environment.

Yes. This is a guided backpacking experience designed to provide a controlled and manageable introduction to real trail conditions. The hike to the campsite is approximately 1.5 miles, and the trip is led by experienced hikers who provide guidance and support throughout.
Participants should be comfortable carrying a full pack and spending a night outdoors. The campsite includes access to water and bathrooms, while also giving you the opportunity to practice essential skills such as water filtering and camp setup.
Please note: this is not a beginner camping trip. To participate, you must have completed our backpacking workshop or have prior backpacking experience.
